Since 1984 Zirkon’s (formerly Econocruise) EMA Speed Control system has been providing goods and passenger vehicles with effective speed limitation, offering the highest possible accuracy and reliability. The EMA system was one of the first to be awarded with the European ‘e’ mark, which means that it is approved for use in vehicles across Europe. Currently over 400,000 vehicles have been fitted in Europe with the EMA Speed Control system.
As well as its reliability, the popularity of the EMA system for the driver is its “user-friendly” smooth action, helping reduce driver fatigue. For the vehicle operator, it is also proven to reduce wear and tear with corresponding economies in vehicle maintenance.
The system can be fitted on the OEM production line or easily retrofitted at dealer level, and comprises of just 3 main parts:
ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT:
An electronic control unit (ECU) continuously monitors road speed signals and modifies throttle position via the motor actuator and variable link. The EMA Speed Control system can be set for the corresponding legal top speed limit, typically 80 to 100 km/h for legislative vehicles or for non-legislative vehicles to any desired top speed limit. A multi-speed option allows drivers to select a lower speed between 40 km/h and the top speed limit.
ELECTRIC MOTOR ACTUATOR:
An electric motor actuator, hermetically sealed in an aluminium waterproof housing can be either engine or chassis mounted.
VARIABLE LINK:
The EMA system’s patented variable link is easily fitted to the vehicle to allow smooth operation of the throttle control system.
OPTIONS:
Additionally the system can be used for special applications such as:
| Acceleration control |
typically used on sales and delivery vehicles. |
| Engine speed control |
typically used on cranes & concrete mixers |
| Two speed system |
typically set at 80/50 km/h for refuse & military vehicles. |
| Low speed system |
typically used on plant equipment, airport vehicles and
forklift trucks with a set speed between 5 to 30 km/h. |
If you have a requirement for any of these products or a special application please contact us for further information.
